The story of Hotel Vintage Park is Washington Wine.
Two travelers ventured into the Pacific Northwest with a natural curiosity of what it had to offer. As they pulled into the garage of their hotel in downtown Seattle, they were surprised from the start.
"Welcome to the Hotel Vintage Park," the valet said as he opened the weary travelers' doors.
"Thank you," said the first traveler "It's nice to finally be in the city - a beautiful, metropolitan place."
"I hope you enjoy your stay. There are many adventures to be had in Washington, but make sure to take some time and relax. If you have the chance, treat yourself to dinner at our restaurant, Tulio. It's as famous with the locals as our guests. Not only do they serve delicious Northern Italian cuisine, but some of the best wines found in Seattle."
The travelers entered the lobby and noticed a friendly looking woman pouring wine for a jovial group. "Must be a private party of old friends enjoying wine," remarked one traveler to the other.
"Good evening and welcome," beckoned the woman. "It's a party alright, but one at which you are two of the honored guests. It's our nightly wine hour. Would you care for a glass before you get settled into your room?"
Delighted, the travelers replied "Well, yes! How wonderful after a long day of travel." One tried a glass of red, while the other tried white. Moments later, both travelers toasted a safe arrival in Seattle and eased into the relaxed and warm setting.
The traveler holding the glass of red inquired as to the maker of the wine. The hostess replied "What you're enjoying is a syrah from the Columbia Valley."
"Is that in Napa or Sonoma?"
"Neither. The Columbia Valley is just a few hours from Seattle."
The guests looked at each other in surprise. "We had no idea you grew grapes up here."
"Oh yes, we have an incredible wine industry - the second largest wine producing region in the nation. See the woman holding the bottle near the fireplace? She's the local winemaker responsible for tonight's vintages," the host explained. "We often have winery owners or wine makers host our nightly guest reception. That's why we say that the Hotel Vintage Park is Seattle's gateway to Washington Wine Country."
Intrigued, the guests introduced themselves to the winemaker. She was a delightful, fascinating lady whose passion for Washington wine was utterly contagious. Before the end of wine hour, the guests had met with the "Vine Vixen" Concierge to book a tour of the local wine country for the following day.
It hadn't been yet an hour and both travelers had fallen in love with the city, the people, and the wine country they had only just begun to discover. We hope you do too.
